More than 10 years ago, I struggled with gratitude. Everything seemed to trouble me, and it was hard for me to focus on the good. I found Ann Voskamp’s website where she challenged readers to daily find something about life for which they were grateful. These daily gifts, as she called them, helped me change my perspective and pulled me out of a life funk that, in retrospect, was probably post-partum depression. When she used her gratitude blog posts as the basis for her book, One Thousand Gifts, I bought and devoured the book. I since have been able to cultivate a life of gratitude, especially in hard times of loss, something the holidays seem to bring to mind.
